About the Business
International Personal Bank U.S. (IPB U.S.) is a segment of Citi’s U.S. Retail Bank that provides U.S.-based wealth management services to clients around the world. IPB U.S. offers its clients access to brokerage products and services as well as traditional banking products and services through three procesal vehicles and offices located in the U.S. and several Latin American countries.
IPB U.S. is currently seeking candidates for the position of Sales Manager. The Sales Manager will be the Senior Manager with the final responsibility for the clean and profitable functioning of the Affluent Branch under his/her responsibility. He/she will have full P&L management of the branch across Investment and Banking products. This position will report directly to the Remote Sales Unit Head. The Sales Manager is responsible for leading a diverse sales force of approximately 20+ employees within a geographic area for Citi’s IPB US Latin America business. He/she will be accountable for maximizing sales, customer & employee satisfaction, and revenue within the banking and investment segments, while minimizing customer attrition, and employee turnover.
Provide leadership to a team of assigned Relationship Managers (RMs) by ensuring constant and effective communication to the team, ensuring effective understanding by the team of IPB’s tactical and strategic priorities.
Ensure that feedback gathered by RMs on behalf of clients is shared with the rest of IPB in order that it inform IPB’s priorities.
Develop and implement a sales plan to achieve all monthly and annual sales goals for the assigned team of RMs.
Drive and deliver all sales (Revenues, Expenses, EBIT, etc) and compliance goals for the complex through proactive, strategic sales planning and business development with the sales force.
Train, coach, lead and develop the RM team to improve sales performance and effectiveness and achieve desired revenue, asset gathering and service hurdles.
Instructor quality of Advisor sales activities on a continuing basis. Ensure that RMs deliver on the firm’s AML objectives and complete all mandatory trainings on a timely basis.
Manage and control P&L/expense activities, ensuring that the firm’s resources are responsibly spent in a way consistent with firm policy.
Effectively manage the full range of HR responsibilities and utilize policies/procedures to develop the complex’s sales force to its fullest potential (hiring, performance management, Variable Compensation Plan, etc.).
Work closely with Decision Management team in the VCP process, file distribution, identify errors, overseeing adjustment process and understanding and explaining all VCP plans.
Identify outside talent and actively recruit salespersons to help grow the complex’s revenue and TRBs through acquisition.
Partner with Service Manager to ensure that Support Staff (Relationship Manager Associates) are aligned with sales, service, control and growth objectives
Ensure implementation and management of a client relationship process that delivers quality and results in high client satisfaction.
Communicate with clients as appropriate to deliver high client satisfaction, resolve client issues and improve client experience.
Investment Supervision. Fulfill required investment supervisory responsibilities.
Product Management. Working closely with the product team to identify new products, identify deficiencies with existing products and work to find solution
Teamwork Culture. Develop a team-oriented working environment
People Management Responsibilities:
Actively manage the day-to-day servicing and processing activities to ensure staff is delivering a high level of service and complying with Citigroup’s policies, procedures and government regulations.
Coach and provide ongoing feedback to staff, identify training needs, and prepare developmental and training plans. Plan and communicate individual annual sales goals to all producers.
Establish working relationship with operations management to jointly identify and resolve on-going issues.
Regularly review internal control and regulatory requirements and self-test results to ensure that effective controls are in place
Work closely with the Remote Sales Unit Head to ensure service appropriately supports business initiatives and appropriate coverage as needed
Marcial Staff Management and Global administration such as mandatory leave, vacation coverage coordination, weekly time-sheet approval, staffing, performance management, etc.
Supervision of all sales branch activities
Liaison with the internal and external Brokerage and Banking Operations groups as needed
Liaison with Decision Management Team
Perform other activities to support the business, as required by Management
Compliance and Control:
Coach team to deliver on time and high quality AML performance through completion of Periodic Reviews, Quality Assurance (QA) cases, HBIs, AIRs, Exception Requests, and other AML inquiries.
Liaison with BUCO team and OneSource Coordinator
Keep current with new products, procedures and applicable Compliance and Federal regulations; learn and incorporate Affluent products relevant to the CI segment and clients
Ability to prioritize multiple complex issues.
Must be up-to-date on compliance matters and engrain a culture compliance within the RM team.
Must be able to know and identify client’s needs in order to offer a superior service experience.
Must maintain a thorough understanding of complex products and services.
Proven ability to manage teams in all levels of supervisory responsibilities – performance management, career development, process improvement, etc.
Assets under management: Between US$1.5B and US$2.2B
Revenues: Between US$ 15MM and US$ 25MM
Demonstrated leadership of a large team of experienced professionals in a fast paced, complex environment
Excellent hablado and written communication skills and demonstrated capability to translate a top level strategy to the individual contributor level
Strong leadership and relationship management skills, positive/can-do attitude

Knowledge of computer programs, spreadsheets, word-processing and Microsoft Outlook
Extensive knowledge of financial, securities and banking services, and industry regulations

Education, Language and Licenses:
Bachelor’s Degree required in Business Management, Finance, and/or related field, MBA preferred
Additional Financial Certifications a plus (CFP, CFA, CIMA, CAIA, etc.)
Bilingual in Spanish and/or Portuguese required; Trilingual preferred
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications; overall technological/systems knowledge preferred
Required: FINRA Series семь & 24, and other requirements as appropriate. Ability to quickly obtain licenses if not already held.
